Kasaline Writing Task - Inside Out (Thursday W10, T3)

INSIDE OUT

 WRITING TASK

The film Inside Out takes us inside the mind of a young girl named Riley as she moves from childhood into her teenage years.

In the film we take a look inside Riley’s brain and discover she is actually being controlled by her Emotions,

Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger, and Fear. In-fact, those same Emotions are controlling the minds of her father, and her mother too. They must be inside all of us!

They’re silly, dramatic, and can’t help but act like themselves. For better or worse!

Your task today is to write a short story.

You will be writing from the point-of-view of the Emotions.

Below are 3 different scenarios - you’re going to choose ONE and begin your writing.

Scenario One

Scenario Two

Scenario Three

You are at a big family celebration for your grandmother. They are serving dinner, and you see your LEAST favourite food. You know it’s rude to turn food away, but you have to eat it anyway.

What’s going on in your head?

It’s the first day back at school. You don’t know which class you’re going to be put into, and you’re hoping that you’re going to end up with your friends. As you walk into the hall…

What’s going on in your head?

There’s 30 seconds left in the game, and the ball comes flying towards you. You’re one score behind, and it’s all up to you to make this shot…

What’s going on in your head?

Begin your writing here: I was at a big family celebration for my grandmother. And we are serving food to eat and I saw my Least favourite food and I didn't want to eat it. So i ate my other favourite foods but not my Least favorite food and I had a memory of my Emotions and my Emotions told me to eat my least Favourite food and i can have a drink after i ate it. So i decided to just listen to my Emotions and just ate it and it actually tasted nice.

Kasaline Design Task - Moana (Wednesday W10, T3)

Kasaline Writing Task - Moana (T3 W10)

 ~ Moana ~

Moana is a story that takes place around the beautiful Pacific, centered around a young princess, Moana, and the mischievous demigod Maui.

Your task today is to use METAPHORICAL language to describe the people, and places from the movie.Metaphorical language means that we have made a comparison between the thing we are describing,

 and something we all recognise.

Let’s look at 3  different types of metaphorical language…

Type of Metaphorical Language

How we use it

Example

What I really mean.

METAPHOR

A metaphor is when you say something IS something else.

“Mr Hughes is a teddy bear”

This means Mr Hughes is friendly, and cuddly.

SIMILE

A simile is when you say something is LIKE or AS something else.

“Mr Hughes is as ugly as a crushed pineapple”

Mr Hughes looks like a crushed pineapple

PERSONIFICATION

A personification gives human qualities to something non-human.

“The wind whistled through the trees”

The noise of the wind sounded like somebody whistling.

Your job is to use METAPHORS, SIMILES, AND PERSONIFICATION to describe these things from the movie Moana.

Check the next page for the table you will be using.

Use 3 examples of Metaphorical Language to describe…

What do they look like?

How do they act/behave?

Moana is a Beautiful Girl because she always does the right thing in the Movie.

Moana acts the way she is supposed to and she is my favourite character and does what he needs to do.

Maui is a handsome guy and he is a good person in the movie and in real life.

Maui acts very good in the movie and does what he needs to do

HeiHei is a funny chicken because whenever Moana asks heihei to do something he will disappear and then come back.

Heihei is a good actor because he is a very good chicken and is really funny.

Te fiti  is beautiful  and she looks like Moana but she is very good.

Te fiti is a good actor because she does what she needs to do in the movie.

Begin your writing here: It was a peaceful Friday night until an Evil and Powerful Villain came along and started destroying things in the city, and he was ready to fight the good Superheros which he thinks are bad. He started to throw stuff around that he can see around him and started throwing it to the good superheroes, the Good superheroes which are Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Loki. They wanted to save the city from the Evil and Powerful Villain. So they grabbed stuff to protect the kids who were with their parents and told them to go inside their house and stay inside so they wouldn't get hurt. All he had to do was to fly and try to get away but lucky the People called the Police to come and arrest the Evil and Powerful villian and put him in jail.
