Kasaline Wednesday: Writing 3

 Naan Bread Recipe

Naan bread is a very popular side dish that we eat with the beautiful curries from India! This side dish is a delicious bread cooked in a fire oven. There are so many different flavours to choose from, and we most definitely love to dip it in our butter chicken!

Your job is to watch the provided video and write out the recipe for it. Try make sure that you get all of the ingredients, as well as write out the steps that need to be taken to make it.

Ingredients

Method

  • 1 tsp of yeast

  • 1 tsp of sugar

  • ¼ tsp of salt

  • ¼ cup of lukewarm water

  • 1 cup of white flour

  • ¼ cup of yoghurt

  • 1tbsp of oil

  • ½ cup of white flour

First add in the yeast, sugar, salt and water into a cup  and stir with a spoon and rest for 5 mins. In a bowl add in 1 cup of white flour, ¼ cup of yoghurt and 1tbsp of oil and mixed with your fingers, pour in the mixture and keep on mixing. Add in ½ cup of white flour and mix until it becomes a dough. Put oil into hands and grease the dough top and rest for 1 hour. Once the dough has risen, knead well, break them up into 4 balls. Apply oil onto the chopping board, spread around with your fingers, place the dough onto the board and spread them out, add a little bit of water on the top side and again spread the water out with your fingers. Flip over the dough that has the water in it and place it on the pan until bubbles and turn over the other else until it is brown and that how you make Naan bread

  1. Well done Kasaline! Awesome work. I can see that you listened to the video to write your recipe out. Why did you choose the indian cuisine? I love Naan bread, my favourite is the Garlic Naan. What is yours? One of my friends has just told me that there is a chocolate naan, and it can be found in Auckland. Must try it out soon! Keep working hard :)
